Clothes for cheap?
I love the sale posts, but since I am on a fixed income, I tend not to have money by the time something I like comes along. So, I was wondering, where could I go IRL or online to get plus sized clothes for relatively cheap. I just can't afford to be spending $40 on a t-shirt at the places like Lane Bryant. I wear (depending on the fabric) either a 24/26 or a 26/28. TIA! |

B&Lu Sample Sale!
Well, I got my shipment of the sample sale today. I was pretty pleased. I think most of it is going to be a little bit too small for me, but I really like the items. I will post photos later, but I snagged 2 dresses (one maxi type and one long sleeved surplice - both really really long dresses), and 3 shirts (one silky trapeze style top that I REALLY like, a butterfly punk-ish top and a businessy looking black and white top). For $26, including shipping, I am pretty happy with that!!! Did anyone else get their shipment yet? I am curious to know how sizing went. I ended up with mostly 2X, which is ok, but I am more of a 3X. Current Mood: happy |

american eagle pants fit?
I've lost some weight since living in japan and my size has changed. However, I'm definitely too chubs to go out and buy clothes in Japan. They have plus sized clothes here, but it's perhaps the most unflattering stuff I've ever seen. Anyhoo, I've noticed that some posters here wear size 18 american eagle. What's the fit like on their pants? They ship to Japan, but returning their clothes would be crazy expensive. So it needs to fit. I am about a size 18 in Old Navy pants at the moment, is the fit similar? |

Vintage Inspired Prom Dress...?
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a dress maker via Etsy or the sorts who is not only good, but could make a nice vintage inspired formal dress for me. I'm on the verge of inbetweenie (usually a size 12), and I have a good idea of what I want. It's just... I can't find it. And I figure I might as well look into getting one made for me. Reccomendations and ideas would be much appreciated. |

OOTPast few days or, fat, pregnant and feeling cute (er)
first trimester SUUUUUCKS. and i finally turned that corner and i'm wearing things other than leggings and sweaters (and no longer huddling under my blankets all day) so i dug out all the outfits i've worn the past few days and had a private little fashion show to share my recent purchases and combos.
( checky... )
and i want to give a shout out to JC Penny for carrying a pretty big line of PLUS SIZE maternity. i finally found the nursing tanks i've been coveting, they have nice jeans, the leggings are wonderful... now if they could just have them *in store* that would be awesome. however, they seem to have free shipping offers a lot and you can return in-store. (i also think they have ship to store, which is cheap or free, but i'm not 100% on that one) |

two questions - bay area shopping and tweedy dress?
Hello fellow fats, I'm headed to the Bay Area for the holidays and am hoping to do some shopping while I'm there. My first plan is to thrift, thrift, thrift, but I'd love suggestions for fat-friendly stores, particularly in San Francisco. My fam's in the east bay but I'll be spending a couple days in the city. Also: one of the things I'm hoping to find while shopping is a dress for an event I'm attending in May. It has a dress code - "country estate." Still figuring out exactly what that means, but it seems tweed is appropriate? Obviously this is several months off, but I can't stop searching online for the perfect outfit! I've found a lot of lovely pictures online, but nothing in sizes that will work. Anyone seen anything like this lately? Alternately, know of any Etsy dressmakers who might be able to work with me? I don't want to break the bank, hoping to keep this under $100, but of course I'd go higher for the perfect, unique dress (or skirt/something combo, I dunno?). ( Examples of what I'm lookin' for )Thanks in advance, friends! |

my hubby came back from two weeks in ohio yesterday. and he took me out to a nice dinner. the place is called coco bistro. any of you san antonio fatshionistas should check it out! the food is really awesome! but try to get there b4 7:30 so you don't need a reservation & so you don't have to pay for the valet. the food is expensive enough! but oh so worth it! so here's what i wore... yes, my 'official photographer' cut off the top of my head. but you get the idea about the outfit! vest, shirt, and skirt: torrid shoes: target a while ago behind the cut are a few more pics plus the woes of having a slippery shirt on under that vest ( a few more pics here! ) |

Two questions - fat-friendly gyms and Detroit stores
Firstly. I've been thinking about starting swimming and maybe tai chi or yoga or something like that. Any suggestions on how to find fat-friendly gyms/pools/classes? I mean, before going to them. Especially classes; I am awful at "just doing it" so having scheduled classes would be best. Specific suggestions for southern New Hampshire, especially Manch/Nashua areas, also welcome! Secondly. I'm going to be visiting family for the holidays and we were talking about going clothes shopping, but I'm not familiar with the stores in that area, so I was hoping for suggestions there too. We're going to be in the Detroit area, specifically toward southern Troy. What are good places around there to shop for larger sizes? Thanks! |

Also, I plan on wearing dresses while there, I'm bringing a lot of sundresses and was wondering if that is suitable for this time of year there? thanks for any suggestions! |

Fats and snow (a review.) [Also a nice Etsy locket I got.]
Alright, so it never snows in England enough to actually have to buy something for my shoes - so I thought. Or so 18 years had taught me. Alas, the last few days have changed that. TLDR for this post; Review. Pictures of item. Pictures of my nails. Pictures of a necklace I got from Etsy. I bought some of these; "Footclaws," and I'm going to give you a little review about them, followed by some nice pictures (including some awesome nail varnish I'm wearing which I posted about a couple of days ago and promised to follow up on.) Now, I'm not sure about the rest of you but I look like a struggling duck walking on a lake when I walk in snow. I don't lift my feet up, I have to have a wall/bin/hedge next to me for fear of going arse over tit and embarassing myself! I was thinking about how to solve my problem, I didn't want to have to buy special shoes/gripped shoes that wouldn't work with what I'm wearing, so I compromised and bought Footclaws. They are a few metal studs embedded in plyable rubber which you can slip over the top of any shoe. And I mean any, well, apart from heels really (but I think you're mad if you want to walk in heals in snow/ice/slush!) Which was brilliant, because today I had to meet some friends for coffee and my boots are so new they have no grip on them at all. Brilliant time for me to get experience with these things and write a review! I bought them a little while ago from I Want One Of Those but Amazon and many other retailers sell them. I wear a UK Size 5 shoe (women's,) so bought a medium sized pair. Let me tell you they're a struggle to get on at first, I suggest you warm them on a radiator when you first get them then leave them on a pair of shoes for a day or two prior to going out in them. This sets the shape better and makes it easier to get them on/off other shoes. Once I got mine stretched I didn't have any problem getting them on and off various shoes at all. I haven't had to reheat/restretch them at all. I was rather tentative when I first set foot out the door today and started my unsure and unsteady shuffle up my street (we don't get any grit put down so it's horrible because it's not a main road. Thick ice and snow, even slush,) and within about 5 steps I was almost running! Not out of slippery-ness but out of confidence! These things work so well for me. I could have ran up the road and not slipped over, I was honestly so happy I couldn't believe it. They're durable and you feel very secure whether stepping snow, ice, sludge, slush.. Whatever. They're noisy though, and I'll warn you that walking on ground without snow/ice and walking on hard floors feels a bit awkward. I have "Plantar fasciitis" AKA hurty feet. I permanantly have to have special insoles in my shoes, but even after walking around in them for a while it wasn't too bad. It puts a bit of pressure on the ball of your foot near your big toe but it's nothing unbearable. I always get painful feet after walking on ice because of the way it makes me walk, but with these I can walk normally and suffer about 90% LESS. I've never reviewed anything before but these were so good I really wanted to tell you guys. I'd give them a 9/10, because they cause a little bit of discomfort on the balls of your feet but it's very insignificant compared to the hassle and pain I'm not getting from going it "normally." Also, they come with a little bag you can put them in if you want, which means they can sit in your bag and not get everything else wet. Behind this cut there are pictures of the claws on my calf boots and my lovely green nails. ( Read more... ) Current Mood: cold |

gynos and some OOTDs
quick question before i get to why you're really looking at my post: does anyone know of any good fat-positive gynos in the baton rouge area? i've never been (lame, i know) and i think i'm about six years late in scheduling this appointment. i've also been told i may want to get tested for PCOS, so if anyone knows anything about that or would like to share info, that would be greatly appreciated. for those not remotely interested in this, here's a few OOTDs: ( pics )my stats: 4'8" 18W-22W. aka: fun-sized. i've been thinking about expanding my jewelry collection. there are several necklaces at forever 21 that have my name on them. |

bra help
dear bra-wearers (or heck, even non-bra wearers who know a thing to two) :) The underwires in my bra always, ALWAYS eventually come out. there come out on the inside of the cup (near my cleavage). this has happened to the bra i'm wearing right now, and to my last bra. both wear 40DD bras from addition-elle. when i was a smaller cup size i bought my bras at la senza and the same thing happened. what's this from? my glorious breasts, poor construction, the fact that i only ever wear one bra at a time? should i be investing in more expensive bras? should i buy 3 bras at addition-elle and rotate so i'm not wearing one out all the time? should i just learn to accept that my bras are semi-disposable? any help would be much appreciated. love, sonia ♥ p.s. it feels weird typing "bra" so much |
